Irish people were among some of the earliest settlers in North America. When they arrived they found little to live or work with in the New Land.
One of the ways the did survive was to build log cabins. These buildings are easier and quicker to build that traditional concrete buildings. With the abundance of wood that was found in North America the new settlers were able to build and live in these lovely wooden buildings.
That tradition has lived on in North America. Especially in Canada were remote areas are difficult to reach, and wood is already there.
As many people from Ireland have settled in America, many more have also returned home to the motherland. Ireland’s economy has bloomed in recent years, and more and more people have been building log cabins near the homes and properties for extra space and accommodation, especially holiday homes.
Ireland is a very green and beautiful place, and the pleasing aesthetics, smells and materials of a log cabin compliment it well. The rolling green hills and blue lakes make a beautiful place to build a wooden building for lesuire or holiday activities.
